Located in Arizona State in United States of America. 36.0553° N, 112.1218° W Climate Summer temperatures on the South Rim usually vary from low teens to high 20's. Summer temperatures in the North Rim are much cooler due to the higher elevation. During Winter at the South Rim you can expect to find extreme cold, including snow, icy roads and trails, and possible closures of some roads. At the North side of the Canyon the view is closed and there are severe and extreme storms and temperatures. Formation Around 20 million years ago the Colorado River began to carve into the Grand Canyon at its eastern end.
